Well that's a nice start to a Monday!

Looks like I might be doing a bit of final bike assembly tomorrow.

(I apologise in advance for the terrible weather we'll get the rest of this week as a result 😉)

#BikeTooter

Unboxing! This is the first vehicle I've had with an official toolkit since my E30 M3 😁

As predicted, the weather has been pretty ropey all day. Luckily managed to find a dry spell for the ride home - got in before the torrential rain and thunderstorms we've had this evening!

@amcewen Ooh that's a beauty.

What's going on with front but no rear mudguard?

@amcewen oh it *came* with a torque wrench? amazing
@rgarner yeah! It's a fairly simple one, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it. I used the one I've already got, as it's better, but nice that they include it.
@amcewen ah right I looked at the box above and thought "nah, it can't have come with interchangeable bits..."
@rgarner I think it has got interchangeable bits. The black plastic box behind is the one for my proper torque wrench, but I think the set of six hex drivers in the cardboard box would fit the torque wrench. I'll check tomorrow, didn't get as far as taking it out of the box today 🙂
@rgarner hehe, you weren't supposed to spot that. I couldn't work out how the second frame mount on the rear guard is supposed to fit, so need to ping their support folk tomorrow.
@amcewen people say fitting mudguards is easy and it absolutely isn't. Every single fitting is a special flower...
@amcewen mine are welded to my bike because the under-crown mount got so much crud flung at it that the bolt seized

@rgarner yeah, thought I'd gotten the front one nicely set up until I rolled the bike forward a few metres and heard it rubbing against the wheel 🤣

Still, I actually got as far as buying them this time - I've /meant/ to get mudguards for the past three bikes and never gotten round to it 😀

@amcewen they make such a difference in winter. Less to clean, components last longer, no more cold wet arse
@rgarner yeah, that's usually when I'm riding along thinking "I really need to get round to getting some mudguards"

@amcewen

I'm interested in how you like their bikes after you ride for a while!

@cowboyminer will let you know. @IoanSaid has had one for a few years now and seems very happy with it

@amcewen @cowboyminer COVID purchase to "replace" my mountain bike.

I wanted something that would be faster than a mountain bike on gravel, paths and roads, but could still handle a bit of rough.
I got the CGR 725. Been off roading (it's "an experience!!") and around Holland (lovely)

Happy with my choice

@cowboyminer @amcewen I picked a barely used Endurance 725 last October . I’ve been very happy with it, nicest bike I’ve ever had.
@amcewen what you got?

@IoanSaid a CGR Al Enthusiast, in orange.

It wasn't due until last next week, so nice to hear that it's already en route 😀

@amcewen I went for the CGR 725 :)

Got any adventures lined up? :)

@IoanSaid nothing lined up yet. I'd been hoping (though it was always a long shot) that it might have arrived in time for the Ride to the Sun we did the other week, but my Cannondale Topstone held out for that (bit of video of the ride at https://youtu.be/ghTxj1oHVjo )

There might be a couple of days jaunt to mid-Wales in September, but I think I'll be looking at getting some longer rides in before then too!

@amcewen our first long ride I think was from Bangor to Cwm Idwal (stayed at the youth hostel) and downhilled back the next day :)

If you come by wrexham/shrewsbury/ (and snowdonia if you're slow..) let me know :)

@IoanSaid we've talked about doing Bangor to Cwm Idwal, but haven't yet. Did Chester to Bangor along the coast over a couple of days a year or two back, and some of our group did Bangor to Liverpool as a training ride for the RTTS.

Slow definitely describes our pace 🤣, will ping you if we get out your way!
