I’ve woken up to the amazing news that fans have patched the greatest racer ever to work better on modern machines.

I’m lucky enough to own a Steam copy of Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast and it’s the best game for the SteamDeck ever, and now it’ll be the best game for the PC ever!

EDIT: I just realised that this works for SteamDeck also. Amazing!

@Sobtanian I saw a 360 disc in a 2nd hand shop, and thought about buying an XBox Series X just for this. Didn't know it was also (once upon a time) on PC.

I'd never _dream_ of going down some "unofficial" route, but I'll keep my eyes open for the PC version from now on. 👍

@KennyPark GL finding a copy. I don’t think the PC version sold well at all.

@Sobtanian They don't even have PC discs in exchange shops like CEX.

It's on archive.org, but like I say, I wouldn't _ever_ go down that route.

@Sobtanian While I wouldn’t benefit from this magnificent update I’m tempted to pin down a disc copy for Xbox. Or rather I might be if the backwards compatibility wasn’t a little iffy on it apparently.. maybe I’ll try Xemu 🤔

@Sobtanian I have neither the available currency or time for one 😅 Even then, that said, The Backlog™ is mighty and I don’t even get through what I currently have let alone adding another platform heh!

Says me eyeballing the Xbox One I apparently acquired (free) a couple of weeks ago that I should try to get a controller for to check out 🤔
