A very #plantifa kinda day.
These photos are out of order, sorry.

Picking plums with @crockett

And some that will be ripe in a week or so. PLUS! Lovage!

#foraging #gardening #PickYourOwn

Now making a spore print to make sure the mushroom we found is actually a bitorq, then going to raid a local mulberry bush for berries and have an evening making jams.

Oh I forgot to mention the black currants that are also going to be a jam. I apparently did not take any photos of those.

Okay, I was impatient, but this was the right colour spores and there was no weird staining or bruising when poked/cut it.

Nom.

@Gigi Those plums are so good! Thanks for helping pick, we took lots of them to two different drop-ins. There's always huge unmet demand for fruit at food serves.

@crockett
I'll have plenty of plum product to hand off when I see you next.

Life would be easier if I could find my (and seriously, there has to be another name for this), chinois.

@crockett

Lordt.
I just looked it up and I cannot keep wincing while calling it this.

"Etymology. Chinois is a loanword from the French adjective meaning 'Chinese'. French cooks call it this not because this kitchen tool comes from China but because it resembles an Asian conical hat."

I'm just going to call it a fucking "conical strainer" from here on in.

@Gigi Yikes. That's not great. I'd always assumed it was something to do with either origin of the device or the name for that kind of mesh.

Those hats are awesome, though, they are better gardening hats than anything else I've ever tried. I'm used to them being called nรณn lรก [Vietnamese] or 'rice-planting hats'.

@Gigi Ooh! Looking forward to them SO MUCH.
