@danie10 I'm big fan on Bitfocus Companion, I find it superior in almost all ways for pro work even on Windows.

Bitfocus - Companion

Companion elevates the affordable Elgato Stream Deck and similar devices into professional control surfaces for an extensive range of equipment and applications. From presentation switchers and broadcast equipment to video playback software and home automation systems, Companion delivers studio-grade control, putting powerful workflows right at your fingertips.

@tensob_ OK most interesting. I've installed Bitfocus on Linux and testing it out a bit. It does the OBS Studio stuff better I'd say (like the status being lit) and maybe misses some features on the Home Assistant plugin, but it certainly has masses more config power to do things. Dragging and dropping buttons is clunkier, but still all round I'm going to work more with it. More complex to start out, but probably way more that it can actually do... Thanks for mentioning it.

@danie10 I use it mainly with vMix (basically Windows only more feature rich OBS with more traditional broadcast equipment-like design) and I pefer Companion over it's own shortcuts and automation features.

I love how easy is to make multi steps actions in Companion even with multiple pieces of software and other in equipment at once.

We for example automate LED screens on corporate events and use the cues to trigger graphics for live streaming as well.

@tensob_ yes I can certainly see the raw power of it. I was able to do nice things with showing time and then date for 1 sec on a press etc.

It is definitely not as beginner-friendly as StreamController, but Stream Controller lacks all that other integration, as well as being limited to the only 10 or so current plugins.

@tensob_ thanks again, I've got EVERTYTHING now working with Companion: Overcame the timeout problem, and got global shortcuts to work with xdotool in Linux. It also shows red and green backgrounds for some Home Assistant buttons like WAN lost, AC load overload, gate battery low, etc.

I will likely do a video about this app too later in this month focussing more on some how-to's.

@danie10 Wow, that sounds great. Thanks for letting me know. I'm glad that I've helped. :)

If you need some examples from the proAV side of things for the potential video, I can provide them. :)

@tensob_ thanks! I'm probably going to aim at a newbie raw start and the basic orientation with how to use it generally for gaming, productivity, Home Assistant, etc. Much like my last video, but diving a bit deeper into how to use global shortcut keys, Triggers, etc. But I'll shout if I am stuck with something.
@danie10 Sure, I will be more than glad to help if needed. :)
