@davew I keep meaning to sign up for @404mediaco - wish there was a similar publication for not-tech.
Maybe there is, that I don't yet know about...
Maybe @ProPublica ?
@davew Philadelphia Inquirer intro! Six months for one dollar!! Editorial calls for Donald Trump to drop out of the race
!!!🍸🍸🍸😹
“In Philadelphia, everyone reads the inquirer”
@davew I started with NYT, then shortly after cancelled my WaPo sub. It was when they both started heavily down the both-sidism path that it was too much for me.
I’ve found some refuge in Mother Jones, Daily Beast, and Raw Story, but I would love to see a curated list somewhere of alternatives to billionaire backed mainstream media. Not sure how that’s accomplished in the fediverse, but it would be a great resource.
Thank you!
@davew I don't think they have readers any longer. It's just a propaganda rag now.
Nobody can seriously be getting their news from this rag.
The Gray Lady always did like platforming anti-democracy movements on behalf of the moneyed.

@davew I only know about the LA library but there may be similar arrangements in other cities’ libraries as well.
If you can show you are a resident of California then you can apply for a LA Library card. With an LA library card you can access many newspapers for free, including NYT and WaPo (though funny enough, not the LA Times)
Leer en español Connecting You to News from Around the World Your library card gives you easy digital access to thousands of newspapers from across the globe in dozens of languages. We have you covered with current issues of Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, El País, China Daily, Times of India, The Guardian, and more. You can also access newspaper research databases and back issues for all of your genealogy, local history, and general research needs. Your library card gives you digital access to New York Times at the library, at home, and on the go.
