@SleepyCatten controller mod cause keyboard is hard as hell sometimes like i can't fuckin sprint
performance mods but not cause of "zomg 60fps" but because framerates below about 24 are kinda hard to play on
lambdabettergrass is like optifine grass but it looks good
on servers i usually install worldedit/fawe because it makes it way easier to build (i especially love
/tool sphere stone then /naturalize)
@tauon Ooooh. Which controller mod? We use MidnightControls (requires MidnightLib).
MidnightControls - Minecraft Mod

Adds controller support and enhanced controls overall.

Modrinth
@SleepyCatten i use controlify, but i think i've used that one before
@SleepyCatten wildfire’s female gender mod on the client side, i like my skin with breasts
@chloe Oooh. Never come across that one. Linky?
Female Gender Mod - Minecraft Mod

The Female Gender Mod introduces extra player model customization options, including a unique feature that adds a personalized touch to your avatar.

Modrinth
@SleepyCatten these are only the really essential ones for me like you asked for, normally i'd use a lot more
client mods (all available for fabric):
- bobby, to increase render distance when playing on bad servers
- ears (im gay)
- fadeless, stops the mojang screen fading out because im impatient
- like all the usual performance mods idk
- midnightcontrols if i'm using a controller

server side: honestly not much, other than like no chat reports and performance mods
@[email protected] @SleepyCatten oh i forgot to mention bobby, i use that too. it works weird on minigame servers though, but you can probably disable it on specifically those servers

@winter Absolutely love Bobby! So happy they upgraded it to 1.21 already 🥰

What's ears, if we may ask?

And yeah, MidnightControls is awesome.

Ears (+ Snouts/Muzzles, Tails, Horns, Wings, and More) - Minecraft Mod

More skin customization options for just about every version + skin backports/fixes for pre-1.9 versions.

@winter Oh. My. Days 😲

As a catgirl, this will VERY much become a must-have for us!

@SleepyCatten since i'm a Massive nerd i usually do more technical focused projects in minecraft, my client side modlist usually consists of fabulously optimized (modpack of a bunch of perfomance mods), carpet mod, tweakeroo, litematica, minihud, worldedit (for mapping out bigger projects in creative), and EMI (recipe viewer)

@beatrix We recognise a number of those (Carpet, Litematica, MiniHUD, and WorldEdit)

We also put all the performance mods on both servers and clients.

@SleepyCatten :D

if you end up running any servers larger than just having a few friends online, things like coreprotect (for spigot, not sure what the fabric/forge equivalent is) to log player behavior and roll back griefing is also a must have IMO

@beatrix nods

No risk of us running any large servers like that, but if we can get a modded QuiltMC 1.21 server running sometime soon (just from a local mini PC, not online hosted), we'll add something like this to rollback areas if needed for any reason

@SleepyCatten Chest Tracker, since I have ADHD, can't organize to save my life, and I'm not about to put that effort in to my game time. https://modrinth.com/mod/chest-tracker

Chest Tracker - Minecraft Mod

Client side item storage - remember where you've put things.

@nincodedo Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!!!

adds to list

@SleepyCatten journey map or xearo’s map. Cannot play without it. Go around a corner and I’m lost!
And some way to move villagers around (easy villagers). The frustration I get from dealing with them just makes me stop playing.

@buddhawilliams Xaero's world map and minimap are absolute essentials 🥰

Not heard of easy villagers though. Mod or plugin?

@SleepyCatten it’s a forge mod only but there is some fabric mods similar (I’m currently playing 1.21 fabric and I have it but I can’t remember the name - and I’m not at my machine but it’s something with villagers in it. ‘Pick up villagers’ or something.
i was going to include this, i use it on every server despite it not being an absolute essential imo
its still fun to map out areas (see attachment), but F3 and F2 is good enough
plugins: LuckPerms, CoreProtect (some servers)

mods (fabric): sodium, viafabric

i would include EssentialsX under plugins if it wasn't so bloated and messy
@SleepyCatten queer and neurodivergent — any inventory management mod that allows me to one-click sort a chest or my inventory. InvTweaks or the like.
