decentralized PLC peripheral modules that I come across at work. The PLC CPU sits separately and is connected to this modul via ProfiNet.

Let's start with the small ones first. lol

@Dr_Muesli The newer ones have more fancy enclosures don't they? Or there are smaller variants. I know these modules from my schooltime...

This product series (at least ET 200SP) came onto the market in 2012. There are many different designs with hidden terminals or with larger cards.

In other series (e.g. 300) the CPU is directly attached.

There are so many different designs and series that I honestly can hardly tell, which is newer or older. Unless I see the gray-yellow Simatic S5, lol
