#Brighton set to make history again by re-electing #Green MP? Yes I think it probably is. #labour are the main rivals but have run an odd campaign in #BrightonPavilion, fielding a largely absent and aloof candidate backed up by a scaremongering campaign insisting that the Cons can win this seat (zero chance, zero evidence) with lots of equally misleading mailings from central office.

The #Green pitch is clear - another Starmer clone backbencher will make zero impact on the things that matter. Labour will not hold itself to account on #ClimateChange and the environment and Green MPs are the only ones able to do this.

Makes sense to me. #VoteGreen

There are two other MP vacancies in #Brighton and #Hove. #Kemptown was won from the tories by #Labour a couple of elections Back. The MP - Lloyd Russel Moyles - has been hardworking and committed and has extended his majority each time, and was expected to win this easy. He is also from the left.

Just before close of nominations, Labour central office deselected him and replaced him with Chris Ward, speechwriter, corporate lobbyist and personal friend of Starmer. The local party are incandescent. The (former) campaign manager of B&H Labour has quit and advised people to vote #Green. Owen Jones on Twitter has also covered this and given the same advice. Will it make the difference and tilt the seat? Maybe.

The third slot in #Hove is occupied by #Labour Peter Kyle. He is facing a campaign from both the #Green candidate and a strong and focussed independent over his stance on Israel. As the deputy chair of Labour Friends of Israel he has opposed a ceasefire and a whole heap of posters on fliers like the one below have appeared across the ward.

Should have been an easy Labour win - now not so easy?
