A pattern I had printed is out for delivery today, yay! I haven't sewn on my machine in ages, this'll be fun.

(For curious sewing friends, it's the free Orchard Dress from Helen's Closet)

@hollie
Should be a fun make! My spaghetti strap days are over except possibly for sleepwear! #HelensCloset patterns are very detailed, which I greatly appreciate.

@EllenInEdmonton Yeah I have mixed feelings about them. On the con side, they slide off a little too easily, but I think I can modify this pattern after I've made one dress, to make thicker straps.

On the PRO side, I have a dream of wearing these through the winter with t-shirts and sweaters over the top and leggings underneath, in which case the spaghetti straps will be great! :)

@hollie
I'm on a quest to draft/adapt a pattern to almost completely cover my racer-back straps. The #AshtonTop, also by Helen's Closet is the closest I've found.'
@EllenInEdmonton That's such a great pattern! I bet you could combine it with the Orchard Dress. Hack the planet!
@hollie
I've hacked it a few different ways. My favourite is tunic length, made with the bias binding and patch pockets in front, for PJs. I'll be doing something similar for fun fabrics I have. I just need to be careful about the gaping armscye on that pattern!
