Fresh Debian 12 Linux install...

Windows is gone...

And now the work begins!

Nice! For the last year or so I've been running Manjaro with my (very amateur/hobbyist) audio setup, using a ~20 year old RME Fireface.

Tbh now that Pipewire is pretty up-to-date on Debian, I might just switch to it myself ... 🤔

Congrats on making the leap!

@composergreg
Oh also - looks like you're a synth person, recommend checking out #PlugData if you haven't already, it's pretty cool

@smallpatatas

YESSSS!!! First step is to get Pipewire going...

@composergreg Very nice! For my amateur very occassional recording with literally just one Lexicon Alpha, my main Arch is serving me well. To actually see Linux in a "real" studio lifts my spirits. Happy travels!
@composergreg welcome to the club and never look back! :)
@composergreg nice battlestation you got there!
@composergreg I hope you will enjoy the transition as much as I did! ✨🌟 What DAW are you using?

@amadeus

Great question!

I'm coming from Nuendo... and will be looking hard at Bitwig, Ardour (Mixbus 10), and Reaper.

Just had an incredibly helpful exchange with @PaulDavisTheFirst about Ardour...

What about you? What's your DAW of choice in Linux land? Also, which distro do you favor?

@composergreg @PaulDavisTheFirst I had been using Logic on the Mac for about 20 years before Bitwig came along and made me curious enough to give it a try. I never looked back. This also made it easy for me to switch to Linux a few years later.
I want to make a track in Ardour soon to give it a try, but have to admin that I feel super at home in Bitwig on Linux.
I have been using Manjaro from day one and have been very happy with it.
