Ive been doing a lot of reading regarding a random end fed wire antennas.
Sometimes its like wading thro treacle. Then you ask a question slightly different and the mist clears somewhat.
What does impress me and it takes a lot for this jaded individual, is that the amateur radio community is not only a massive reservoir of talent, but it's also freely given...

@EA7KRC Counterpoise? ;)
@va3db
Funily enough that was the topic I was last reading up on lol
@EA7KRC There is still a lot of misinformation in the amateur radio community with confusion between grounds and counterpoise. Grounds are only for lightning protection not RF. :)

@EA7KRC same! I’m so far figured out once I activate my ATU I’ll have a low loss resonant antenna system, and that a deliberate counterpoise and common mode choke will work better than using my feed line as an accidental counterpoise.

I’m still trying to qualify the stern advice that the wire must exceed a quarter wavelength on the longest band, and determine whether I might be able to get better results with a shorter wire if I add a loading coil.
