Greatly enjoyed our (me, Emily, and Jasper the #Tamaskan) annual #canoe #camping weekend with friends at #GreenRiverReservoir. I believe this was the 13th year for our group of friends and my 11th (I think we skipped 2020, for "reasons"; also, Jasper's 2nd). We had lovely, calm paddle-in/set-up & tear-down/paddle-out weather, a beautiful Saturday afternoon/evening, and impressively intense rain/thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon. We're a bit _too prepared_ so the storms were exciting/relaxing.
Very thankful that after swamping the canoe on last year's paddle back that we were able to pack lighter this year and didn't have to brave choppy water. Also thankful that my lighter workload -- though primarily a result of health issues & in-progress burnout recovery -- I was able to leisurely & thoroughly review/edit our gear over a period of weeks. Also thankful that we had nice weather yesterday & today for cleaning/drying all the muddy/wet gear!
Knowing how sketchy #canoeing with our previous 50lb #SiberianHusky, Cinnamon, could be at times, we invested in a set of #SpringCreek #canoe #stabilizers when we adopted Jasper (105lb #Tamaskan). Without them, his height and weight would easily roll us if he stood at an inopportune time. A friend brought a small hand-held sail for his canoe, so now I'm re-inspired to drool over the canoe #sailing kits that utilize the canoe stabilizer kit we already have. No funds for such toys though. Someday.
