Switched up my recording setup for #TechTalk and other podcasts/recording work recently.
For the last two years of doing Tech Talk, all I’ve had is a Rode NT-USB Mini microphone connected to my laptop and that's it, no interface, no fancy setup. If I wanted to record demos (which were usually on the iPhone), that was done using QuickTime and Audio Hijack on the Mac. This worked ok, but my biggest annoyance was that there really wasn’t much flexibility in terms of levels. There would be times where I’d be told that I’m coming through too loud or too quiet even though no settings had changed since the last call, and apart from playing with the input settings in Zoom, Cleanfeed or whatever we were using, there wasn’t much I could do about it.
