I had lunch the other day with an old work friend from 40 years ago. He voted for Trump in 2016, Biden in 2020 and is leaning towards Trump in the fall.
We've been friends for a long time, so I poked at only a few things to try to realign his understanding on.
The last thing I did was ask if he knew about Project 2025. Unsurprisingly he said no. "Google it" I replied. He said he would...

Trump has a plan to destroy democracy. Why haven’t people heard of it?

For a nation that still prides itself on its exceptionalism, Americans are exceptionallyindifferent to the workings of their own government.Oneexplanation for thatcomplacency is that, at least ...

@joeinwynnewood I think that recently Project 2025 is becoming more well known. Have heard more about it in the past week than at any time before, however I don't watch network TV, and doubt if it's being covered there.
We owe it to our friends and family to inform them about what GOP has planned for them.
Glad that you were able to speak to your friend one on one. May I ask what attracted him to trump?

@Barbramon1

Sure.FYI, it's my assumption he voted for TFG in '16 based on our conversation. I can guess why but we didn't talk about it.
He said he was leaning Biden, but immigration and Biden's cognitive issues pushed him away; he also expressed anti-establishment sentiment.

I poked/prodded on what he knows on immigration, getting agreement that most immigration is people in dire straights; filled in some gaps for him.

Delved into other stuff too. I think I kept him closer to undecided.

@joeinwynnewood ... being very low key about to his CULT members.. just like the FELONS troops are USING AI to BLOCK all news from them seeing ALL the GOOD things happening and do not meet FELONS NEGITIVE SPEAK OF LIES AND DECEPTION..
TAKES a long attempt of tries to access things thru BLOCKS which many ignore...

@joeinwynnewood I dunno. There’s been a LOT of coverage of Project 2025, and I don’t think much of it resonates with low-info, “status quo” voters (i.e. “everything will be fine for me, why should I care?"

The people who don’t want to know won’t know

@peterbutler @joeinwynnewood I tended to think that too — that it had to do with “low info, status quo voters” — but then I read articles like this, where delegates to the Republican convention say Trump has surrounded himself with denizens of “the deep state.” These are not low information voters, they no doubt know about Project 2025 and what it aims to do to the “deep state,” yet they think this. https://apple.news/AtbdEti0GRtKdcQPjGXmtAA
Trump campaign seeks to head off convention revolt from its right flank — The Washington Post

Aides scrambled to foil a suspected plot to throw the nominating process into chaos as suspicions abound about potentially disloyal delegates

@rlpaulprodn

That's an entirely different universe of people.

Convention delegates are the most politically engaged people in the country.

In today's MAGAfied GOP, intra-Party dynamics are pushing state Parties ever further to the batshit crazy right.

@peterbutler

@peterbutler

I listened to the 6/18 episode of Pod Save America this morning; they relayed survey on project 2025 awareness; 75% haven't heard a thing.

@joeinwynnewood
The mainstream news media will report on anything EXCEPT what Stupid and his cohorts have come right out in the open and said in plain language they intend to do.

Did you know, for example, that Biden is old?

@KatM

@joeinwynnewood No one but folks on the Internet and hard core, like QAnon obsessed/ Trump obsessed folks seem to be talking about it.

@Fanfalla

Informed Biden/Democratic voters (AKA political junkies, activists, etc.) are definitely talking about it, it's why we're here!
