Today is the day this just started on my Pixel (in Firefox)...time to burn it all down, what's that search engine you can pay to use?

@likesoldmacs

The only one I know of that you can pay to use is #Kagi, but that is an #AI company from the very beginning.

I've been having good luck with #DuckDuckGo for a few years now, and ever since Google #enshittified/nerfed their search results, I no longer fall back to google for hard searches.

@Mojeek is absolutely worth a try, and my good friend @amin created #clew (https://clew.se) which is an open-culture-and-fediverse-first search engine that's definitely worth trying!!

Clew

Clew is a web search engine trying to be different from the rest. We are the magic ball of string leading through the internet's labyrinth.

P.S., @amin,

#clew needs a fediverse account!

@RL_Dane

It does, yes. My task for today is to set up a development blog, after which I figure my next task will be a fedi account.

@RL_Dane

I'm thinking of giving it it's own GtS instance. Or try to set up Tahake, which has multiple-domain support, to host all my projects' accounts.

@amin

Link to Tahake? Can't seem to find it.

Nevermind, found it on #clew! lol (and it's "Takahe" ;)

@RL_Dane

Ha, must've misremembered it.

@amin

Easy enough to do, it's not a name you'd see a lot of, and it sounds right either way.

#Metathesis

@RL_Dane

Takahe also supports edits 🤔

@amin

Written in python, though. That's interesting, but I wouldn't recommend putting polymaths on it ;)

@RL_Dane

Nah, I think it's more intended for project accounts.
