Emmett MacfarlaneI have spent the last six months serving on the University of Waterloo's Task Force on Free Expression. This was many, many hours of work. The President has released our report. This is probably the most comprehensive analysis on campus free speech of its kind in Canada, examining free expression, academic freedom, institutional autonomy and neutrality, and identifying a set of principles and recommendations to inform policy.
I should note, as a product of an 11-member Task Force, the Report is not without its compromises. It's not exactly the report I'd have written if I had written alone. But it's robust, principled, and thorough, and I'm proud of the work we've done.
