I just made my partner breakfast, took a train, sat down with tea, and almost spat it out upon turning my machine on.

I had to turn off follow/boost notifications in Mastodon just so I could read everything, my LinkedIn is exploding, and my email is flooded.

This means that:

1. The AI grifters at my part-time gig will try desperately to get me in trouble on Monday, which makes me happy

2. People really HATE Synergy Greg

(Love you all, thanks for reading and sharing so widely!)

@ludicity we’re enjoying it quite a lot on lemmy too: https://awful.systems/post/1734913
I Will Fucking Piledrive You If You Mention AI Again - awful.systems

another obviously correct opinion from Lucidity

@ludicity dude I saw this one EVERYWHERE
@phil Synergy Greg in shambles
@ludicity I’m requesting slash fanfic of Synergy Greg and Lorem Epsom from https://youtu.be/Y65FRxE7uMc for Yuletide this year

@ludicity lol, and you managed to avoid the orange influx by using big boy swearing words, congrats.

@ndevenish I actually like most of the orange influx readers quite a lot! Only amazing people from there take the trouble to email me, and who cares about random comments.

But I do find it crazy how many adults freak out about swearing in a world where things like Ukraine being invaded exist. Like, get some perspective, this isn't Disneyland.

@ludicity I saw HN flag the post. I guess they can't take criticism of current AI trends!

@cws Ah, they're all right. I think they largely don't like the AI hype either and just get caught up with the language/tone. I KNOW that this will happen when I use titles like I do, and I try to stay authentic by not self-censoring when I feel like the situation demands profanity.

HN readers send me very supportive emails. Some of the most pearl-clutching folks are just the loudest. And also some of them critique me fairly for being immature, hah.

... Or you're right, who knows.

@ludicity It’s a hilarious and an incredibly written post! Your post on RuneScape is excellent as well. I still don’t get the fire making skill.
@jblewitt I feel like we should kick off some sort of blog-community-OSRS clan for people that want to play casually.
@ludicity It's high time more people called out grifters for what they are. Sadly large portions of society couldn't spot a grifter if it hit them across the face
@ludicity Don't stop cooking ;)
@mtsk I've done so much traffic that I can't tell if someone is going to try and forcibly stop me from cooking or if I've grown too powerful for them to enter the kitchen
@ludicity it is a great article and it has been a delight for the data scientists around me. You definitely struck a chord.

@WowSuchCyber My personal favourite thing has been all the news sites titling me with things like "This data scientist has something to say" after an article that says "I left data science" and all my professional profile says "data engineer".

Never change, journalism ❤️

@ludicity hello from a new synergy greg hater follower!

(also just sent that article along with the quote "Whenever there is a ransomware attack, it is revealed with clockwork precision that no one has tested the backups for six months and half the legacy systems cannot be resuscitated" to my partner, who is currently at their job, where everything is down from a ransomware attack and was last backed up six months ago, when the one person who wasn't being forced to spend their time training a chatbot retired.)
