So apparently there's rumors that Warner Brothers might just buy the rights to the HP franchise from Rowling outright to get her increasingly toxic brand out of the equation.

I'm already seeing swarms of millennials rejoicing because they're looking forward to enjoying HP again "in good conscience" and I need everyone to realise that this buyout is the worst-case scenario because it would give Rowling enough money upfront to buy Westminster entirely.

@lambdatotoro seeing the only thing "good" that she has ever produced be stripped from her (as good as a racist series that promotes antiquated stereotypes and has slavery and white saviour allegories can be) would make me so happy. I hope they make a spinoff series with trans characters and just go ham with it. she can have as much money as she likes she is already a multimillionaire and the only people who listen to her are TERF nutjobs

@maika This would not take Harry Potter away from her by force, this would compensate her upfront. Likely in the billions or tens of billions of pounds. And all that money would now be available to be spent in anti-trans lobbying, like she has done before. This would not be a gotcha against her, this would be very very bad.

@lambdatotoro @maika It would be so much better if Harry Potter faded off into oblivion and we made room for new, better stories. Stories with own voices from people of marginalized genders and sexualities.

Fandom tried to "take it from her by force" but all that did was continue to make HP (and her) relevant. Boosting her profile through association. Time to stop clinging onto the bloating, rotted corpse that is HP.
