I have 25 Gbits fiber internet at home but honestly, everything north of 500 Mbps is a waste of money (though I pay the same regardless of speed). We have CDNs around the globe, but my updates still only come in at a couple of megabytes per second..

Case in point, here is me downloading from #GitHub

@lx 10000%. I have 1gb. And tbh, if they throttled me to 250mb I bet you I would not notice. Symmetrical is way more important to me. Going up otherwise only makes sense for me as devices scale up.
@bashfulrobot Exactly, upload and latency is way more noticeable to me. I mean sometimes I do download something big that makes use of my WiFi speeds but most of the time, the servers cannot even saturate that ๐Ÿ˜„
@lx You have WHAT??? 25Gbps? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Daaaam! By the way, I think that there's something wrong with your PC/router. I have a 80Mbps vDSL and I'm downloading at 60Mbps that same dmg.
@apex Yeah, 25 GBits but most servers donโ€™t even have 10 Gbit hardware, let alone 25. So itโ€™s more of a nerd flex than anything ๐Ÿ˜…
Comparing your result with mine is probably difficult because we might not have used the same exact server/region. It also varies with time and in the evening the datacenters might be under high load.
