I can’t think of anything funny to say about this, so I’ll just post it as is… 😢

@breadandcircuses That's a very simplified explanation for how environmental toxins, like plastic, accumulate further down the foodchain.
@breadandcircuses it needs an additional layer, all of these being engulfed by commercial fishing nets.
@breadandcircuses @uliwitness deAdder really is the best political cartoonist of our time.

@breadandcircuses The littlest fish should be about to eat some microplastics.

We could add a trawler and then a human mouth behind as well. We now know that plastic is everywhere, including our food and drinking water...

@breadandcircuses This guy swam the garbage island. What a hero and gross.
@breadandcircuses wby not this cartoon by the late Martin Perscheid? He addressed a lot of problems with irony and satire and various other forms. This translates to: ‘What do you all have against plastic bags? I find them very practical!’ but obviously it’s horrible. He made other cartoons about it too. It’s a sad reality.

@breadandcircuses better maybe than what the English water companies are allowed to do. They are not supposed to put as much as they do out but the fact that they are allowed to at all is the problem despite their excuses. They are pushing out sewage into waterways. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-68665335

They should fix their bloody problem and stop sending poo and other waste into the environment.

Raw sewage spills into England rivers and seas doubles in 2023

Environment Agency data shows sewage spilled into England's waterways for over 3.6 million hours last year.

Mr. McGuire: I want to say one word to you. Just one word. Benjamin: Yes, sir. Mr. McGuire: Are you listening? Benjamin: Yes, I am. Mr. McGuire: Plastics. Benjamin: Exactly how do you mean? Mr. McGuire: There’s a great future in plastics. Think about it. Will you think about it? When Walter Brooke, as Mr. McGuire, …

It's so sad and at the same time infuriating. We recently visited Sousse in Tunisia and the first couple of days the sea was nice. On the third day I saw what appeared to be t-shirts in the water. They were black plastic bags and then I noticed the clear plastic EVERYWHERE! We filled two of the bags in less than 15 minutes. I felt sick just being in the water with all that debris floating around. We usually see a little trash at any beach but this was disgusting.
@breadandcircuses it’s a tiny thing, but when I have to throw away anything made of plastic film I tied it in knots, hoping it will be less likely to suffocate sea life.
