@BobHorowitz Yeah lol part of it was the lens. I was using a loaner 800mm to try it out. I want to get a prime zoom and the 800mm was first up. Way Way too much lens for what I do. I really am lening towards the 600mm f/4 that has the 1.4 tc or the 400mm 2.8 with the TC but am balking a the price tag. For the price of one of those I could get the 800mm, the 600mm f/6.3 AND a Z8 body to go with the Z for the same as one of those

That being said it was really light esp compared to my Sigma 60-600 Sport

The far away pic is unzoomed with my Iphone 14 Plus and the other is the 800mm from the exact same spot seconds later. it is an impressive lens (I had to reduce quality as it was too big to upload but it is uncropped)

@cvvhrn Damn big lens. At some point, I imagine not just weight but shake becomes an issue.

I've been getting by on an 18-250mm on a crop sensor DSLR, the equivalent of a 27-375mm on a full frame. It's not long enough for planes and birding, but those aren't my specialty.
