Here's a Pathe News story about a quick respray service where for 21 Guineas you could have your 60's car painted any colour your in a day!
Safe to say I have concerns about the long-term prospects for your shiny new paint job!
This film is very of its era, I believe the tone would be very different if this was made today!

British Pathé
@DazzlingDamo Growing up in California in the 1950’s and 1960’s there was a car paint company called Earl Schieb where they would paint your car for $29.99 this continued into the 1970’s when the price shot to $39.99. I’ve never seen a thinner coat of paint. If you wanted prep it was another fee as was masking.
@LawrenceShop have to say that makes 29 Guineas sound like a premium price especially at $2.8 to the £1 in the 60s
@DazzlingDamo American cars were not just larger they were gigantic compared to auto sizes in UK or the Continent during the 1950-1975 model years. Plus UK and the Europe was still dealing with the recovery and rationing from WWll. Additionally America was on fire economically during this period.

@DazzlingDamo
