Running on the idea that ultra-rapid insulin uses irritants to induce faster absorption (fiasp uses niacinamide/B3, lyumjev uses aabc), I started slapping my lyumjev injection sites to see if that also helped.

So far, it seems to!

So yeah, if you're MDI and want to try this, give it a go! Inject, then slap!

@bedast Slapping is also going to increase blood flow in the location, and probably accelerate mixing of the fluids (insulin and the interstitial fluid). Exercise involving the area in question is most likely going to have similar effect.

@bedast And using straight up irritants may be risky, because that's going to cause a reaction, meaning inflammation, which may cause blockage of the site and/or worse absorption.

As a side note, I'm getting sick of how quickly sites get blocked with fiasp, and can't wait for lyumjev to become available, since AFAIK it does not have that issue.

@bedast
Though, yes, you talk about MDI and the issues I mention are mostly in regards to pumps.
@viq I’ve heard from pump users doing DIY loop trying Lyumjev and it tends to kill sites faster in many people due to the acidic irritant (aabc). Some have found success mixing Lyumjev and Humalog though. But there’s a ton of DIY going on there and none of it is approved, heh.
@bedast Oh, dang :/ Have you heard how much faster lyumjev kills sites? With fiasp I think last month or so I had barely any sites last full 72h or so, most around 50, and I just replaced a blocked site after about 40h :(
