Freedom is supposed to be the default state of humanity. This is real life, not Starship Troopers, where you need to fight in a war to be given your freedom by some parody of a fascist empire.
All these defenses of Israel's conduct over the last decades always rely on a "might makes right" world view.

In real life, we fight to keep our democracy. The default is anarchy. It requires constant struggle to remain free.
