David WilkinsJust a quick one today, from SMMT Test Day in Bedfordshire. This is the range extender version of Mazda’s MX-30 EV. The unique thing about this is that the range extender is a small rotary (Wankel) engine. Oh - that and the distinctive (presumably in the interests of sustainability) cork interior trim. Very nice vehicle, but a bit niche.

The Wankel is a nice choice for a generator, since it's balanced and doesn't need to change RPMs.
The drawback is higher emissions than a standard reciprocating piston engine.
I was so excited that I wanted to import one, until I saw more pictures. There's no B-pillar!

Also I used to wax cork floors in an historical building. That stuff will disintigrate and stain asap!
