I tend to reply with "Oh you just wait for the *real* climate dictatorship. You know, when it's not politicians, but physics that makes the rules."
… hasn't helped so far.

Even in an optimistic scenario where no climate dictatorship occurs, we're still making a mess that someone else will have to clean up. "Freedom" to leave a mess for others is not part of liberty.
