... i should dual boot rooted android on my laptop for no useful reason...
do x64 versions of android even exist anymore?
@TheCrystalWoods BlissOS still exists (android 14!)
Android x86 seems to be long stopped :( (android 9)
OH SHIT!!!! can i sideload google play on it?
@TheCrystalWoods should be doable, I haven't checked that sort of thing in a while, but I think they still offer x86 versions, otherwise, I guess microG and Aurora store exist
it... should just use normal APKs... right?
@TheCrystalWoods @theking well yesn't

some APKs are pure JVM stuff, those get compiled on the spot when you install the APK and thus the ISA underneath doesn't matter

apps with machine code aren't as simple, tho Android x86 used a translation layer to help run ARM builds on x86, and more recently 2 more layers have been made, one by Intel for WSA (which is probably dead now) and another one I can't recall the name of
@theking @TheCrystalWoods tbh I recommend microG over Play Services proper, quite a bit lighter weight
@[email protected] @TheCrystalWoods I don't know what all breaks with microG nowadays, so I can't really say much for a specific one
@theking @TheCrystalWoods last time I used it, Magisk Hide didn't work, so you can't pass Play Integrity checks if you're rooted

if you're not rooted then it supposedly could pass the checks, tho I never tried because I never cared for passing Play Integrity (at the time SafetyNet I think)
don't really think i'm going to be able to pass that anyways with a x86 version
@TheCrystalWoods tbh never tried

I've never used any apps that actually give a shit about Play Integrity checks like Netflix or any banking apps
fucked up that netflix would throw a hissy about that
@TheCrystalWoods tbh I'm not surprised, Netflix already offers worse streams on computers than on the apps that run on TVs with locked down OSes (refer to Louis Rossmann's vid about it)
