@arstechnica I've heard city-dwelling Canadians who don't normally have a very distinct Canadian accent get really thick stereotypical accents if you sit them in a Tim Horton's talking about hockey.
@arstechnica Canadian voices are everywhere in U.S. media, also a go-to non-accent. This has been going on for years.
@arstechnica My guess is that something similar happens for American's playing #AFL. They pick up #aussierules specific terms and pronounce them the same way as their Australian teammates.
