Going to try darning some of my lovely wool socks for #menditmay

Got a proper darning mushroom and needles!

@simoncox That's fancy! I usually just make a botch job of sewing mine, with added blood stains where I keep stabbing myself with the needle πŸ˜‚πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
@Fizzle_Up
i have yet to have a go so there may well be blood on the rooftops here. My mum has a victorian one with a spring around it that i did use as a student but haven't done any since!
@simoncox This sounds cool. Is it a tradition or something?
@ilovechoclates_ no. Just good sense!

@simoncox I see. Is repairing clothes not that common there?

Because in India, it's in our blood lol. We will repair a cloth until it literally shreds to pieces and threads

@ilovechoclates_ was when I was growing up and I prefer repair over throw away but there is a culture now of wear once and bin which is appauling!
@simoncox Oh, I hate it too. Because of this fast fashion, clothes are becoming so low quality. I personally buy fewer clothes and lol I even have clothing from 2016 that I am wearing rn.
@ilovechoclates_ As my wife always says - buy nice or buy twice!
@simoncox She is indeed right. Haha, sometimes I wish I could meet your wife. idk why I thought this, but I think she sounds so wholesome (based on everything you posted about her)

@simoncox I've not come across #menditday before - but love the idea. There are a number of 'Repair Cafes' popping up around here, which is great.

Not much to add... though I was VERY pleased with myself for fixing my car's rear tail-light the other day.

Not really saving the world - but saved me a few quid! πŸ˜„
