@Gegenwind Either we manage climate change, or climate change manages us.
@JustinDerrick @Gegenwind manages us... out of existence
@michel_slm @Gegenwind That's what I'm trying to subtly imply. :)

@JustinDerrick @Gegenwind Over here in Germany, people are always raging on about a so-called "climate dictatorship", referring to politicians trying to do even the slightest bit to save us.

I tend to reply with "Oh you just wait for the *real* climate dictatorship. You know, when it's not politicians, but physics that makes the rules."

… hasn't helped so far.

@jssfr @Gegenwind Yup, what I can’t understand is that the people who have the most…. Have the most to lose. Floods, fires, storms…. They don’t care how nice your house is or how rich you are when it’s your turn to be in the path of destruction.
@jssfr
Even in an optimistic scenario where no climate dictatorship occurs, we're still making a mess that someone else will have to clean up. "Freedom" to leave a mess for others is not part of liberty.
@JustinDerrick @Gegenwind
@cgervasi @jssfr @Gegenwind “Your rights extend to the point that they infringe upon mine.” — And the “First world” has a LOT of careless pollution to make up for.
@Gegenwind
And its not even the summer...
@Gegenwind they are getting more heated year over year, huh?
@Gegenwind
I will un-/re- boost this every time it crosses my timeline. Because it's true.
@Gegenwind The gradual warming doesn't worry me as much as the transients. The Antarctica has already proven that a 38C above normal day is possible and it probably has happened elsewhere.
38C above normal in a summer day between 30N and 30S will be fatal to millions.

@Gegenwind at least they’ve stopped talking about “the new normal”

… or maybe they haven’t and I’ve changed who I follow…

@Gegenwind did not enjoy hitting 49°C. I worked outside during this event. My boss told me I could take the week off but since I was hourly it would have been without pay so I just started at 03:00 and went until it got to 40°C.

This was the deadliest natural disaster in Canadian and Washington State history. June 2021. I’m sure we will repeat it again someday. It was obscene watching trees slowly die in the weeks following.
