Oh I just remembered #MeMadeMay. Well, today it's just underwear. I'll do better tomorrow.

My pyjamas! These have been in almost constant use since November 2020.
Between 2020 and now, pyjamas and self have become somewhat faded and crumpled, but still comfy. #MeMadeMay2024

Today I'm wearing the waistcoat I made from my favourite old jeans after they became so worn out they were no longer repairable.

This top is one I put huge effort into. I started looking for button-front princess-seam dress and found a free pattern for one which I was quite happy with as long as I could manage the following adjustments:

Bodice:
Narrow waist front & back
Raise bust apex point
Full bust adjustment
Add sleeves

Skirt:
Add pockets
Lengthen

But those aside it was a useful pattern. This is the wearable mockup of the adjusted bodice, and I wear it often.

Attached: 4 images I did it! It's not ironed but I'm so pleased with myself. I want to finish it off now -- seams and neckline and buttons -- but I'm satisfied that my paper pattern is good enough. After taking these photos I had a phonecall in the warmest bit of my space before changing out of it and now the underarms are a bit ick. I'm going to rinse them in cold water and then finish sewing. #Sewing

Day 5 of #MeMadeMay2024 and I'm wearing my slippers, which I wodged together in a hurry one day I had cold feet. https://mastodon.art/@artbyailbhe/111178089907143007

Day 6 of #MeMadeMay2024 and I'm wearing a top I made because I'm too tired to sew on the buttons on my new dress. I traced and cut out the pattern for this on the 4th, sewed it on the 5th, and tried it on and altered the hip width this morning. It's the same Ellie and Mac Slow Sunday pattern I've used for other tops and dresses, and this fabric is 95% cotton french terry I've had since 2020. I might make a cardigan from the rest of it for later in the summer.

Day 7 of #MeMadeMay2024 and I'm rewearing the top I finished yesterday, and as always my pants (not trousers, the other pants) are self-made. I spent today's energy shortening the rise of some of the pants I made ages ago, because (a) I'm sitting up, not lying down, so the high waistband is too high, and (b) the jersey has stretched and they're just plain too big. So I'll wear them tomorrow.
Day 8 of #MeMadeMay2024 and I am finishing my dress made from a friend's old duvet cover.

Day 9 of #MeMadeMay2024 and it's just pyjamas and underwear again. Fair enough.
Day 10 of #MeMadeMay2024 and I finally realised I can at least *mention* my Test Jeans, a pair of M&S jeans I bought on eBay and use to test things out, like this fancy stitch my Janome machine can do.
Day 11 of #MeMadeMay2024 and I have my duvet dungarees from Morgan Donner's design, made last summer. https://mastodon.art/@artbyailbhe/111002528786641480

Attached: 3 images FINISHED. I will probably do nicer seam finishes inside sometime, and it will probably grow appliqué over time, but I'll be wearing these now! #Sewing #dungarees (Yes, I can just about fit in one leg)

Day 12 was just underwear, and today is Day 13. I modified my recent top. The bit left from cutting the scoop neckline was a useful shape, so... #MeMadeMay #MeMadeMay2024 #ItHasPockets

Day 14 was underwear and pyjamas again, but day 15 is a repeat of the blue top with daisies. Perhaps I should point out that the chair I'm sitting on is the one I sewed a cover for. I did piping. https://mastodon.art/@artbyailbhe/110832175238859960

Attached: 3 images So I'm back at the chair cover. I've unpicked all the pieces I think I need to, to make pattern pieces, and I've started tracing around them. But I've realised I need to learn a lot more about inserting a zip, because this looks very neat and I don't know how to do that. #Sewing https://mastodon.art/@artbyailbhe/110813772022830155

Day 16 of #MeMadeMay2024 is my other pyjamas, which it was too warm to wear last week. I made these from the same pattern I had made for the darker set, but from heavier brushed cotton. I love them, especially in winter. The second picture was the day I made them. #Sewing
#MeMadeMay2024 Day 21 and it's turned cold so I'm wearing my wool-lined velvet waistcoat. There are many problems with the tailoring of this garment but it's lovely and warm and my wrists and hands never brush against the wool I'm allergic to. To which I'm allergic, thanks Victorian Latin-focused grammar snobs, I always think these sentences twice.

Ailbhe (@[email protected])

Attached: 1 image I'm planning my next waistcoat. I'm a bit allergic to wool but none of the waistcoat lining will touch my skin so I'm making the exterior from cotton velvet, lining it in wool, and hopefully using paisley silk from a tie for pocket welts. Photographing the colours is really hard because my camera is so clever it can't handle red or green at all, but this is burgundy, dusty blue, and silvery pinky grey background with cerise/pink paisley. #Sewing

Days 22 and 23 were uninteresting -- I'm not putting underwear pics on the internet. Day 24 is the flowery top again and my new heart rate monitor with a little cotton sleeve over the synthetic strap. #MeMadeMay2024
So #MeMadeMay2024 taught me that I wear the same things over and over and I don't have much I've made myself, though almost everything newish is homemade. I'm ok with that, wearing old things is more important to me than wearing homemade things.
