Today I'm wearing the waistcoat I made from my favourite old jeans after they became so worn out they were no longer repairable.
Attached: 2 images Ok I'm looking at my old jeans and here's what I found #Sewing
This top is one I put huge effort into. I started looking for button-front princess-seam dress and found a free pattern for one which I was quite happy with as long as I could manage the following adjustments:
Bodice:
Narrow waist front & back
Raise bust apex point
Full bust adjustment
Add sleeves
Skirt:
Add pockets
Lengthen
But those aside it was a useful pattern. This is the wearable mockup of the adjusted bodice, and I wear it often.

Attached: 4 images I did it! It's not ironed but I'm so pleased with myself. I want to finish it off now -- seams and neckline and buttons -- but I'm satisfied that my paper pattern is good enough. After taking these photos I had a phonecall in the warmest bit of my space before changing out of it and now the underarms are a bit ick. I'm going to rinse them in cold water and then finish sewing. #Sewing

Day 6 of #MeMadeMay2024 and I'm wearing a top I made because I'm too tired to sew on the buttons on my new dress. I traced and cut out the pattern for this on the 4th, sewed it on the 5th, and tried it on and altered the hip width this morning. It's the same Ellie and Mac Slow Sunday pattern I've used for other tops and dresses, and this fabric is 95% cotton french terry I've had since 2020. I might make a cardigan from the rest of it for later in the summer.
Attached: 1 image I've finished this except for the last three buttons! It has pockets! I'm so happy! #Sewing #MeMadeMay2024
Attached: 3 images FINISHED. I will probably do nicer seam finishes inside sometime, and it will probably grow appliqué over time, but I'll be wearing these now! #Sewing #dungarees (Yes, I can just about fit in one leg)
Day 14 was underwear and pyjamas again, but day 15 is a repeat of the blue top with daisies. Perhaps I should point out that the chair I'm sitting on is the one I sewed a cover for. I did piping. https://mastodon.art/@artbyailbhe/110832175238859960
Attached: 3 images So I'm back at the chair cover. I've unpicked all the pieces I think I need to, to make pattern pieces, and I've started tracing around them. But I've realised I need to learn a lot more about inserting a zip, because this looks very neat and I don't know how to do that. #Sewing https://mastodon.art/@artbyailbhe/110813772022830155
Attached: 1 image I'm planning my next waistcoat. I'm a bit allergic to wool but none of the waistcoat lining will touch my skin so I'm making the exterior from cotton velvet, lining it in wool, and hopefully using paisley silk from a tie for pocket welts. Photographing the colours is really hard because my camera is so clever it can't handle red or green at all, but this is burgundy, dusty blue, and silvery pinky grey background with cerise/pink paisley. #Sewing
