@markstos @capntransit we don't know the actual reason for why it was up, but we assume it's the same as most buildings: it gets put up for pointing and buildings feel it's cheaper to keep it up than it is to take it down.

Either way, it has been an obstacle in the community for years and got highlighted in our Austin St walkthrough.
