Quebec has some of the strongest legal protections against retaliation for union organizing in the country!
We have something called card check, meaning once a majority of workers have signed union cards, you can get certified immediately without a long delay. Signing a card is completely private; your boss has no way to know who signed!

The QC labour code also forbids any form of retaliation for union organizing, even before a union is certified. If management does try to retaliate in any way, the burden of proof is on them to show they did it for reasons other than union organizing.

In other words, getting involved in workplace organizing can actually make it harder for bosses to punish workers unfairly, especially when you have the backing of your coworkers and legal support from a federation like CSN.
