It is late, and I nearly missed it but I have just completed Day 04 for #WeblogPoMo2024. I am too tired to talk about gliders tonight, so instead I recount a few funny stories from my time working #ItHelpDesk at a local school: https://leafoutloud.lol/WeblogPomo2024/Day-04---Some-IT-Stories
Day 04 - Some IT Stories

It’s pretty late right now, the clock is about to go past 11pm. I’ve been up since six and I have had a long day. I spent the better part of a day helping a friend move house and in the afternoon I went to a Star Wars Quiz for May the 4th (we came second place, thank you very much for asking!) I have not the energy, nor the content to talk about gliders tonight.

@leaf I have twenty years of those stories from public school. I never did like being called Computer Man. I'd say "I don't call you Teacher lady" . For the most part though I had great relationships with teachers. I work in higher ed now and it isn't real different than K-12. Some egos are a little bigger. Hopefully one of them isn't mine.

@amerpie That's funny because i now work in higher ed too. However, I have moved out of an IT role now and work as a data engineer.

There are plenty of days i find myself pining for the IT days back at school where a five minute fix could often be followed up by a fifteen minute chat.

And yeah, even from my job where i don't really interact with anyone outside my team i can see the bigger egos.
