I didn't even think of that! The strife between mother and daughter really is the strife of the expectations of women from previous generations and now. Her mom doesn't have the experience or context to understand that a career could be more interesting or higher priority than just getting married and having kids. She feels rejected to her core for her whole way of life that she was hoping to pass down and share with her daughter. 💔

Her mom, as flawed as she is, really tried to do her daughter better than she was done in her childhood. And from her perspective and goals, she did! She treated her daughter with love and care as a human who deserved love and care. Whereas previous generations treated female children as servants to male family members. 💔 She really *did* do better, even if it still isn't enough for the expectations of *this* generation.
