Biden's been trying to put pressure on Netanyahu while still assuring Israel that we will be their ally. At the same time, the Republicans in Congress throw shit fits if there's even a hint of cutting financial support for Israel. Meanwhile, Hamas is refusing to return hostages as part of a cease-fire, and the U.S. views that as an impediment to a cease-fire. There's intractability on all sides. I wouldn't want to be Biden right now.

I do wonder why people lose faith in democracy. Is it because they can't get everything they want, the instant they want it, so they decide to make everyone else suffer? And then they end up screwing themselves along with everyone else? Very mature. No, very self-centered.
There are entire generations priced out of both the housing and rental 'markets.'
There are a variety of reasons for why people might be priced out of the housing market--location, availability of jobs, "gentrification," greed on the part of landlords, etc. Is that enough reason to lose faith in democracy? What would be an alternative? Communism, where the "elites" still control the wealth? Fascism, where we give up all our personal rights and freedom? So we are just supposed to be disillusioned and do nothing except kvetch?
I don't know how you solve the problem of high housing prices. Move further out where housing is still affordable and work on your legislators for better regional mass transit? If the demand isn't there, then the prices would go down, don't you think? Chicago has a very low residential vacancy rate compared to many of the sunbelt cities, so I'd expect prices in Chicago to be higher. Similarly, NYC and CA will be higher. Alabama and FL? Not so much, so they could move there!
People lose faith in democracy when it doesn't work for them, fair enough, no? The reason housing prices are so high is corrupt government. In Canada, the government stopped building social housing and co-ops decades ago because landlords complained, and still nothing. Meanwhile the federal government cranks up immigration. All those new people have to live somewhere.
Cranks up immigration where? Are you saying immigrants take housing away from citizens? Like immigrants take away jobs from MAGA, or so they claim? Even though the MAGA won't do the jobs that immigrants will, nor will MAGA get the education they need to do the higher-paying jobs?
The Canadian federal gov’t has increased immigration in order to increase the population. Of course they need housing.
