I just dropped my Summer 2024 semester class for #OMSCS so I can concentrate on the Summer of Protocols grant for adding E2EE to ActivityPub. I'm pretty bummed; this is my second semester in a row that I've had to drop out. But I just can't hold down a day job, work a full-time role on the grant, *and* do graduate school classes. It's just too much.
I sat out Spring 2024 also to finish the ActivityPub book for O'Reilly Media. It's due June 1, so I thought I'd be able to start classes for the summer, but I guess fate got in the way.
I've really loved the classes I've taken at OMSCS, and getting a master's degree in computer science feels really important to me. I don't like that other things are getting in the way, and I'm worried that busy-ness is going to keep me from doing something I really want.
@evan The things getting in the way are pretty cool, though!
@evan Good luck finishing your book.
@ylarrivee thanks! I can't wait
@evan Let me know if you find it valuable to share your knowledge with developers. @ConFooCa Opens the CFP mid august. :)
@ylarrivee @ConFooCa I can't wait! Will be there.

@evan @ylarrivee

Evan, our call for paper is still open. Now is the time.

@evan if I ran a MSCS program, I would give you credit for adding E2EE to ActivityPub. I know, classes are different, probably complements to practical projects, no matter how innovative. Mostly want to leave a note of respect and thanks to you. Go Evan!
@mlinksva thanks. There's actually a way to get credit for a "special project" but I did that in Fall 2023 for the first half of the O'Reilly book on ActivityPub. I'd rather use my remaining credits for learning new things.
