All things considered, I find it fascinating that they've decided to make Yi's temper associated with the sound of a Tiger snarling. Especially given how tigers relate to the overall plot, being both tied to his and Diao's childhood trauma, and how that incident affects the present circumstances.

Also, Yi's breakdown in EP 4 is so messy and raw, like, choking one one's own hyperventilated tears level crying and panic. #MaxKornthas really sells it.

Related to part of the above, something I spend possibly a surprising amount of time thinking about is: how men are allowed to cry in media.

And I say allowed for a reason. Because in a lot of the media I grew up on, men really weren't. Like you'd have your single stoic manly tear more often than not. (And that's only sometimes an exaggeration.)

The fact that he has the space to be an absolute hyperventilating wreck, and be shown as worthy of compassion, not disdain, means a lot to me.

This also probably gets into aspects of my being #genderfluid and the resulting ambiguous messaging I got growing up.

Because I absolutely internalized that messaging, even though people expected me to be a girl, no additives or substitutions.

And my relationship with crying is this tumultuous thing.

Which I guess is why this portrayal feels *personally* freeing, and not just interesting in a way that's separate from me.

Anyway, more messy crying men and masc characters, please.

Also: some spoilers, obviously, but here is the second half of the sequence, without the very spoilery stuff, and the tinnitus ear ringing of doom: (it's 10:49, if the video doesn't start at the timestamp)
