@Skepticat it’s a Brazilian story, GOL is one of the major airlines. They were transporting a golden retriever along with its trainer and shipped it to the wrong city. Somewhere along the line, it died of a heart attack, at only 5 years old.
There will be hearings, because GOL have largely just said “shit happens, oops!”
I had hopes of bringing my dog with me to see my family in Denmark, but now I am simply to frightened to even begin to navigate that system. Too great a risk.

I did not take an assignment in Hawaii simply because of flying my kitty. She traveled all over with me for 13 years, but I drove, coast to coast, one state at a time.
I didn't have the heart to stress her out with flight.
