The UT Austin protest got very interesting today.
Started with DPS police officers marching onto campus as a column.
Police came armed with batons, over 100 rounds of rifle ammunition each.
A few officers carried teargas launchers and AR-15s.

Students report seeing numerous arrests of students simply going about their day.
As the column of cops made their way through the crowd they began making random violent arrests.

The day started with a convoy of cop cars heading to the UT Austin campus.
What was the rush? What was the threat?
Arresting college kids for holding signs and chanting and reporters for filming.

Through out the day DPS/APD made several pushes with mounted officers and riot cops to push students of the South Lawn.
Students slowly were pushed from the area.

There's been countless videos coming out of Austin of questionable arrests.
Here's one of an elderly man being arrested. I think this is the first arrest from UT today that didn't involve someone getting body slammed.

Once the South Lawn was clear, the mounted police left and the cops slowly dispersed.
They seem to have made some efforts to hold the lawn but . . .
The student's numbers on the ground and spirit remained high.
They eventually re-took the South Lawn!

This was the scene at UT Austin this morning. Students came out in a MAJOR way and continue to demand their university divest from Israel.

It's important to know that Texas has a law that re-affirms the 1st amendment and guarantees that public college campuses can be used for public demonstrations.

Texas Tribune reporting 46 out of 57 arrested have been released and charges dropped!
Also making a lot of catty remarks about "outside" influence but as we just saw from the official UT Austin press release -anyone- can host an event practicing any protected 1A speech on the campus.

This morning student protesters steadfastly re-established their encampment on UT Austin's campus.
According to @oconnell police are on scene but are currently out numbered.

I'm personally really inspired by the attention to detail these students display. One thing is for sure, these kids love their water!

Cops arrested around two dozen people from the encampment and attempted to leave campus.
Sadly the cops got surrounded by students who withstood violent outbursts from the cops to block the arrest vans' exit route.

Cops reportdly deployed pepper spray and flash bangs.
But there are hundreds of students blocking the road, they don't seem to have enough pepper spray.

In the face of pepper spray and stun grenades the college protesters still would not allow the cops to take their friends without resistance.

Unclear if the arrests vans made it out but the students were able to collapse a police line and were seen possibly heading back towards where the encampment had been.
A few hours ago it was reported that all of the students within the encapmanet were arrested and the entire crowd had been push off the quad.
Hillarious if the remaining kids are able to retake it and start yet another encampment.

The students have re-taken the lawn. They are reportedly cleaning up the trash left by the cops and working to continue the day's teach-in activities.

UT Austin students renewed their demands today.
They are demanding their university divest from Israel's war machine.
They want charges dropped for protesters and they demand the resignation of the university president, Jay Hartzell.
