How do you measure the performance of storage?

1️⃣ Run a benchmark! 🀯 (should be obvious but...)
2️⃣ Understand the read-write distribution of your system
3️⃣ Measure both, IOPS and Throughput
4️⃣ Measure IOPS at different block sizes
5️⃣ Use a benchmarking tool, such as fio (the flexible I/O tester)

What are your most important ones? What would you add? Let us know πŸ‘‡

Check out a deep dive into each of these terms in our latest blog post: https://www.simplyblock.io/post/storage-performance-metrics-iops-throughput-latency-explained

@simplyblock From my perspective, the most important thing is to understand what you actually need. The highest speed may not be want you want if you see other disadvantages, like additional cost or something like that.
