Don't know if I reach any game developer. But games need a "adult mode" as in "I haven't played the game for weeks because life happened. Please give me a ramp up of the story so far and an option for a short tutorial with all the controls and mechanics".
@hikhvar I’ve seen that in some mobile games where you could ask the app to reset the tutorials.
@do3cc often tutorials are not enough. Some games introduce new mechanics, combos or tricks during the story/progress. Those are not covered by the initial tutorials. But being able to du the tutorials again is a good step forward. I think most game support more then one playthrough of tutorials.
@hikhvar playing Yakuza Ishin at the moment, each chapter starts with a recap of the previous, and there’s character bios and a relationship flowchart that gets progressively filled in through the game. Absolutely the thing that’s keeping me in the story.
@hikhvar I know exactly one game who has that: Return to Monkey Island by @grumpygamer – and it is awesome ❤️

@hikhvar yep +1

Last game I played had this though (final fantasy 7 rebirth): you could replay any part of the tutorial at any time, and in case you stepped close to a quest in progress they’d tell you outright “you haven’t been here in some time so let me refresh your memory”

@hikhvar this. so much. can't count the games I haven't continued just because of the "fear of forgotten everything to continue"
@hikhvar absolutely. I'll never finish god of war ragnarok because after weeks away from it, all knowledge of it is gone and its too frustrating to get back, unless I have nothing better to do for like a whole weekend
@hikhvar This! I was discussing this with a friend just a week ago. So many games left unplayed due to not remembering the controls...
@hikhvar I have a growing list of "games that I started but then I stopped for some reason and now playing again would mean start a new game and so I don't play them anymore" ^^
@hikhvar would also like the option that after a certain number of failures it could suggest you take a nap or ask if you remembered to take your pills.
@hikhvar Yep, I agree completely. I can't tell you how many games I had a good playthrough going on, but then had to abandon for a few weeks and end up so lost when I return that I have to start all over again. It gets really irritating. A "story so far" sort of feature that you can access at any point in the game would be IMMENSELY helpful, especially for longer titles.
