Why does Bavarian beer taste so much better than our local brews?

Perhaps I’m a born again Bavarian ??? (But perhaps more the soul of Sophie Scholl than Franz Josef Strauss).

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Olithal Because Bavarians receive their most important instructions directly fomr God. See "Ein Münchner im Himmel!" Not for everything, but for everything important. Like Brewing beer. You should as well not worry about FJS or Sophie Scholl. They both lived in that time and of course had different political views, but I'm sure the agreed on beer. FJS didn't support Nazis directly, he arranged himself. At the end of the war he stopped SS-Officers to defend Schongau and he surrendered the city.

@energiepirat

Sehr schön gesagt! ♥️

Thank you, Tom. 👍

@Olithal Danke und Bitte gern! Did you know that Slovenia was part of the Old Duchy of Bavaria? Croatia as well!

@energiepirat

Didn’t know. But I know that they were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

@energiepirat

Love a bit of history.

Hey Tom, if ever you decide to make an Ausflug down South to Ljubljana - give me a shout! I would love to chat about politics and history. (Beer is on me…Slovenian beer hahahaha)

@Olithal History was one of my main subjects at Abitur here in Bavaria. Maybe I get the chance to come to Ljubliana. Laibach in German. I'm sure we will find good beer there as well. At the moment I don't see how to escape for some days. The same for you, if you can coma to see Bavaria and the Bavarian Woods.
@Olithal Anyway: Strauss was not a fan of Hitler and his gang, but he didn't risk to critic protest against them. In that sense he was not less a coward as the majority. Which - by the way - would be the same behaviour in any country of the modern world. There are no more Spartans to form a whole county or statehood of fighting heroes. But FJS - who still is valuated here, never had the size of charakter as Scholl and her friends had.
@energiepirat
It’s probably a very unjust comparison. (My bad) Because the Scholls were young and they happen to be killed. So obviously they are martyrs now.
@Olithal No fault. FJS grew up in Schellingstr. München, where his father ran a butchery . At the corner there was the Bürgerbräukeller, where Nazis did have their reunions in the 20ies and 30ies. Remember: FJS was born in 1915. As kid he distributed propaganda for NSDAP. His father punished him, when he noticed this. FJS voluntarily entered Wehrmacht to avoid being draufted to SS:
Watch the maps of Bavaria. Think of the ancient name of Bavarians as Bajuwars.We are Avars. Descendents of Bajan.
