Facing NGC 1232

NGC 1232, a large face-on spiral #galaxy 47 million light-years away in Eridanus, is captured in a detailed telescopic image. Its colors transition from yellowish old stars at the center to blue and reddish hues in its arms. The nearby-looking companion, NGC 1232A, is actually much farther at 300 million light-years. A spiky bright star in the foreground resides within our Milky Way.
