Large-scale protests against the law on “foreign agents” continue in #Georgia
Protesters blocked #Rustaveli Avenue near the #Georgian Parliament building, #Paper_Kartuli reports.
The anthems of #Georgia and the European Union were played at the rally. According to the MapChecking service, there may be about 15 thousand people in total at the protest.
It is known that the Committee on Legal Affairs of the #Georgian Parliament approved the so-called law on foreign agents - the opposition fears that it will interfere with the country's integration into the European Union.
ℹ️ The purpose of the bill is to control and curb the activities of foreign civil rights #NGOs in #Georgia. The ruling party tried to pass the law a year ago, but it was withdrawn after mass protests.
Now, it has been reintroduced with the only change: the term “agent” has been removed from the title of the bill.
