I'm still wondering how many security "breaches" are actually part of an advertising campaign for credit monitoring services.

Such services are absolute cash cows because the demand, once established, tends to continue, like residential security systems, energy drinks, and South Park.

@kfanyo Right? Because who remembers to cancel their credit monitoring once it’s not free anymore? Out of SEVEN POINT SIX MILLION PEOPLE, surely that nets a decent profit from forgotten subscriptions.
