Just won a #NYCTLC case against a driver who abruptly entered a protected bike lane and stopped, forcing me onto the sidewalk, then continued driving down the bike lane. Driver failed to show for first hearing, was issued a default guilty verdict, appealed, rescheduled the hearing, then pled guilty.

#NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission allows anyone to file complaints against licensed drivers. Imagine if citizens were able to file complaints against ANY driver and have the gov't take them seriously

Spoke too soon. Driver called into hearing 80 minutes late with a lawyer, who requested discovery evidence from prosecutor. Prosecutor said my photo of the vehicle traveling down the bike lane through an intersection was "pretty good evidence" and that they would probably plead guilty, if not, onto the third hearing date!
@rbellinger
The grief of having to get a lawyer and showing up will hopefully deter them in the future from doing that again. Regardless of the result of this specific court.
