My #hiking and #camping excursions during easter and a week to mull them them over have given me a few insights of how to optimize for the summer trips. Including #bikepacking.

a) Water is heavy y'all and I'm a big scaredy-cat when it comes to filtration. Have a MSR Trailshot #waterfilter that I do not trust. It is probably fine but I feel good about it. I'm mostly in the scandinavian well developed lowlands. So I got me a #Grayl #Geopress to go overkill. And not have to carry 7kg of water.

b) My #backpack is ridiculously out of time and overdimensioned. 125L and 4600g of weight. Awesome though. A friend of mine pointed me towards the "heavier" #ultralight packs. Those with a frame, 60-ish liters of volume and just over a kg of weight. And not too expensive. Will have to tell my local shop to get some example models for me to try out.

Those are the two big items when it comes to loose weight. Then there are a bunch of smaller items such as...

c) get a summer #quilt instead of my three season sleeping bag. Will also make me sleep better as I can sleep cooler. Does quilts come with something to put between me and the sleeping pad?

d) replace axe and general knife with a heavy duty knife

e) while ratchet straps for hanging the #hammock are really awesome and easy to use they are 500g. And I could practice not using them...

f) low and light hiking boots work just fine

g) don't forget toothpaste

@tissek I can highly recommend Varusteleka's Terävä Skrama knife. There's 80mm, 200mm and 240mm models to choose from. I've had the original (240mm) they produced years ago before introducing all these different size models. Now I would probably get the 200mm model to save some weight (155g or so).
