@loren We have one that comes and feeds in the garden but it will not hang around for me to get a good shot of it. Different type though, ours is more yellow, and has a superhero eye mask.
@eclectech oh yes! i just looked them up, they look a bit more like our red breasted nuthatches that are smaller than these guys. those guys are a bit more flighty, but these big white breasted guys don't care as much

@FlockOfCats mm a bit of a crop but they were not too far off, closer than most of the birds i photograph haha

One of her granddaughters was asked what birds they had seen by a teacher. The teacher said that she never heard of such a bird and called the grandmother. They had a good laugh and the granddaughter learned the name nuthatch. I still call them ass-up birds.
