@Nonilex Since drug cartels do not exist in this country Trump must be referring to drug cartels that are south of the border. I doubt that we can do very much about them without the full cooperation of another country's government.
Cartels do not have a navy so a naval "embargo" makes no sense.
Any effective action against a cartel will require our almost permanent presence in that country and I doubt that Congress or a foreign government would approve that.
Trump's "solutions" are nothing new, but they do give him something to campaign about.
The war on drugs has been going on for decades. As long as we have the customers the cartels are more than happy to oblige.
If we legalized the drugs and controlled their distribution and use the cartels would dry up overnight.
